Japan. Gyokuro is one of the best green teas around. Sencha green tea is also great. Loose tea is always better than tea bags. Once you drink loose tea, you don't go back to tea bags.
References :
All the different kinds of tea result from the same plant. It is the production processing of leaf that determines a flavor be it Black, Green, or whatever. South Carolina has the only
tea plantation inside the lower 48 of USA (Hawaii has one).
Chinese plants were brought to the American East Coast
300 years ago by a French speculator and those first fields
are now under urban Charleston. The same plants were
next transfered to an island for research by Lipton Tea and
is now another tea corporation agri-business. Product is a
minor fraction of domestic demand so import of processed leaf is required. There is nothing better than leaf fresh from
the factory milling. Leaf without processing is probably best
left for animal feed. Feel free to graze in any tea plantations.
