Realistically, you can probably lose between 5 and 10 pounds, depending on how much you weigh now. (The more you weigh, the more you can lose.)
Try a juice diet, with protein powder mixed in. And running or bicycling should help.
But only on a short-term basis. After Christmas, start a real meal plan and exercise program that will help you lose weight permanently.

If you want to lose body fat, the best thing is cardio exercises. This burns fat faster than strength training. But for long term weight loss always add strength training to your weekly exercise routine as this builds leans muscle and increases your metabolism. Eat less fattening foods and lower calorie foods with higher nutritional value.
